"Celebrating NASA's 40th Anniversary"
The Goddard Space Flight Center and the Goddard Visitor Center are celebrating NASA's 40th Anniversary and you're invited! Join your friends and neighbors for a day of out-of-this-world fun. Activities include tours; a NASA Project Showcase featuring exhibits relating to Earth science, Space science, and Advance Technology; space suit demonstrations; musical entertainment; video presentations highlighting "NASA Through the Years"; children's programs/activities; presentations; Earth Science demonstrations; puppet shows; inflatable starlab; balloon rocket races; model rocket launches; control line model aircraft demonstrations; planet garden; our famous "Living in Space " presentation; and much more. Oct. 14-16 -- Inspection 98. A business and industry behind-the scenes look at NASA's facilities and activities.

October 1998 Events:
1. A mural for guests to sign "Godspeed John Glenn and crew of
STS-95 will be hung at KSCVC. Crew is scheduled to fly scroll photo of
mural on STS-95.
2. In the Gallery of Space Flight, an exhibit "NASA is . . .
History in the Making" will highlight Glenn's involvement with both the
Mercury and Shuttle programs.
3. First-day issue of a block of space exploration stamps by
the U.S. postal service, to be first-day issued at KSC. Astronaut Don
Thomas scheduled to participate as well as Deputy Director of Business
Operations James L. Jennings.
4. KSC's first annual Partners in Education & Research Conference for university faculty and students, in Cocoa Beach on October 6-8.
Year-long Events
1. Special, topical exhibits on display throughout the year.
2. Tour guests will receive a specially developed 40th anniversary
commemorative poster and souvenir which highlights NASA's
accomplishments over the last 40 years.
3. Walking tours of the Rocket Garden and Shuttle Plaza.
