EP-95 ON THE MOON WITH APOLLO 16

FIGURE 72.- Bistatic Radar Experiment.

FIGURE 72.- Bistatic Radar Experiment. The radio communication signals from the spacecraft travel along two paths. One comes directly to the receiving antennas on Earth. The other travels to the Moon is reflected, and then travels directly to the receiving antennas. comparison of these two signals allows us to recognize the changes caused by the reflection from the Moon. quell changes are the basic data of this experiment from which we infer the electrical properties of the outer few yards of the Moon. The Moon and spacecraft are not shown to the same scale.
