NP-119 Science in Orbit: The Shuttle
& Spacelab Experience, 1981-1986
Some of the elements found on the sun
(silicon, carbon, and helium) are shown in this HRTS spectrum (1,500
to 1,700 Angstroms). This spectral region is particularly useful for
understanding the outer layer of the sun where high temperatures are
maintained despite large radiative energy losses.
