SP-399 SKYLAB EREP Investigations
Summary
FIGURE 2-4.-A comparison of Landsat-,
Skylab- (S190A and S190B), and aircraft-derived land use maps. This
figure represents Level I and Level II categories mapped in the
vicinity of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The land use maps illustrate
the type of mappable units that can be derived from imagery obtained
by using three different platforms and four different sensing
systems. The land use classification system used was modified from
reference 2-1. Specific colors represent Level I categories. Numbers
represent subcategories, or Level II Informations, within the Level I
categories. Hachuring is used in a few areas where positive
identification could not be made for a single Level I category. The
close correlation between specific-category patterns and areal extent
on the Skylab S190B and aircraft maps should be noted. (a) Political
map. (b) Landsat color-composite land use map. (c) Skylab S190A
color-infrared land use map. (d) Skylab S190B color-infrared land use
map. (e) Aircraft color-infrared land use map.
