SP-399 SKYLAB EREP Investigations
Summary
FIGURE 4-9.-Area of Black Cone,
Nevada, on June 9, 1973. (a) Color composite of S192 data in which
bands 12 (red), 7 (green), and 2 (blue) were used. The image contrast
is typical of the normal scene reflectance. site A is composed of
materials inside the cone. site B is adjacent materials demonstrating
anomalous reflectance possibly caused by a very fine coating of iron
oxides deposited by posteruptive volcanic steaming. (b) Color
composite of the same data, in which the image contrast was stretched
emphasize reflectance differences in the rocks near and inside the
cones. (c) Spectral response curve showing the diffused reflectance
signatures for sites A and B. These signatures demonstrate strong
similarities in the visible range but significant differences in the
infrared region.
