Richard Clar

Richard Clar, a Los Angeles/Paris new media interdisciplinary artist, turned towards art-in-space in 1982 with a NASA-approved art payload for the U.S. Space Shuttle. Clar's current work encompasses site-specific environmental issues ranging from orbital debris to water-management on Earth; war and peace; and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

Collaborating with such partners as the Naval Research Laboratory, Boeing, and the Aerospace Corporation, Richard Clar's unique artistic vision generates high-visibility projects that transform state-of-the-art technology and highly-engineered materials into evocative contemporary art. Richard's work has been exhibited in museums, universities, and galleries in the U.S. and Europe and appears in corporate collections such as JBL Sound, Home Savings of America, the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, and the University of California Riverside, Culver Gallery's permanent collection. In 2007, Richard Clar was elected as a Member into the International Academy of Astronautics.
