[O108] As part of the Search, Recovery and Reconstruction Team effort, a library of Underwater Search Video Tapes was maintained. Search videos were copied and provided to JSC, MSFC, and the Supervisor of Salvage, USN. The master video tape was kept in the data viewing area, Room 2174, Headquarters Building, KSC.
Video tapes were given an SRR Team number and local experts provided a characterization of the video and attempted to identify the source of the debris, i.e. SRB, Orbiter, TDRSS, ET and IUS.
These data were entered into a personal computer data base system. This Appendix D is a list of all Underwater Search Video Tapes logged into the data base as of close of business, May 5, 1986.
Search video tapes were taken during the debris search and characterization phase. Often these video tapes were taken by vessels with little or no recovery capability. Views are pieces of debris, although ocean conditions often produced poor or unusable images.
